BERLIN, Dec 14 (Reuters) – Germany bought the go-ahead to purchase F-35 fighter jets produced by U.S. defence big Lockheed Martin (LMT.N) as a part of army procurement initiatives price 13 billion euros ($13.85 billion), Defence Minister Christine Lambrecht mentioned on Wednesday.
The German parliament’s funds committee permitted the spending, together with 10 billion euros for the F-35 jets in addition to funds for the acquisition of encrypted digital radios and assault rifles.
These initiatives are among the many first to faucet cash from a 100 billion euro ($106 billion) particular fund that Chancellor Olaf Scholz introduced in a serious coverage shift days after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February.
