There have been numerous reports of a loud bang around Devon which seems to have also been heard across the entire South West.
Although many believed the sonic boom was caused by a military aircraft, a spokeswoman told The Mirror that the bang is not believed to be linked to any RAF activity.
The noise was heard at around 3:00pm this afternoon and was first reported in the East Devon village Payhembury.
Liam Thomas told DevonLive that after he heard the noise it ‘reverberated for about 30 seconds.’
He also stated that after the initial bang, there was a series of other popping noises that lasted for a short while afterwards.
Many people across the region have taken to Twitter to share their experiences of the noise with one woman in Somerset saying that it ‘Shook all the windows and doors in our house’
